The Discussion

Mo College – When did you join the Government Degree College, Sundargarh as a student?

Dr. Dutta – I joined the Government Degree College, Sundargarh to pursue my graduation courses in Botany in 1976. I was lucky to receive high quality education in the subject at the college which helped me in achieving success in life.

Mo College – Can you name a few teachers who inspired you to achieve your goals in life?

Dr. Dutta – All my faculties always inspired me to excel in life. My Botany teachers, the Late Shri Sushil Kumar Joshi, Dr. Ranganath Mishra, and my Principal, the Late Shri P.K Puri were exemplary inspirations to me. They not only taught me the subject, but they also inspired me to become a good human being.

Mo College – What’s your message for the Mo College initiative?

Dr. Dutta – It’s a wonderful initiative which helps in connecting many ex-students and faculties with the college once again. In fact, it’s a wonderful platform where Alumni ideas and thoughts are being considered for the overall welfare and development of an institution. As far as I am concerned, I feel the Alumni must be roped into various college Boards so as to enable them to serve the institution with their vast experience, apart from contributing to the institution intellectually.

Mo College – What plans do you have to revive your college?

Dr. Dutta – Myself and all the alumnus of Government Degree College, Sundargarh, along with the college authorities, want to build a micro-biology laboratory and an auditorium for the students. We are working towards this surely and soon this goal will be achieved.

Additionally, it will definitely increase the worth of our institution and help broaden the future prospects of our students. I am contributing to the college intellectually by conducting seminars and meetings on various issues related to education and students’ welfare. Moreover, I, along with my Alumni association members, have conducted blood donation camp, health camp as well as other pro-active events like art and science fairs to take the mission of adding value to education.
